About the School
Ashbury Meadow is a vibrant, multicultural Unicef Rights Respecting primary school, in May 2024 we were reaccredited with Gold award.
At Ashbury Meadow we believe in the value of every child and adult who enters our doors and becomes part of our community and by showing value, we expect them to show value and respect towards one another. We encourage and support every child to reach their true potential, leaving them equipped and empowered for the next step of their life as Rights Respecting global citizens.
We are situated in the heart of an urban regeneration area in a superb primary school building, which opened in September 2004. The building was extended in 2015, enabling us to move to two form entry and creating a wonderful open plan early years resource. We have extensive grounds, including an internal courtyard in which we we have created a sensory garden and also a wild woods area for forestieres to explore and adventure. We put a great deal of emphasis on learning outside of the classroom. Within the school grounds we have created an outdoor classroom, KS1 and KS2 activity areas and further play areas in early years, including a mud kitchen, woodland walk and castle tree house as well as a wildlife and woodland area . We have a 52 place full time nursery within our early years provision. Inclusion by design is at the heart of our school culture and as well as meeting the needs of pupils with SEND needs within our mainstream, we also have four fully resourced SEND provision attached to school. Two Social Emotional and Mental Heath provisions and two Communication, Langauge and Interaction provisions. The aim being that these pupils during their school life are able access mainstream schooling where and when appropriate.
Class teachers are responsible for the children’s welfare and delivery of the curriculum. We have introduced a very broad curriulum to support the needs of pupils within our school which includes are own bespoke personal development curriculum. Each year group performs a local area investigation in which pupils use key geography and history skills to investigate places close to us. We work closely with a range of high schools to ensure a quality transition. We consider a child's right to a healthy lifestyle vitally important and as such work closely with City in the Community to develop a sporting and healthy lifestyles offer. This Christmas some of our pupils took part in a video to kick off MCFC's Christmas appeal for 2024. The link for the video is here https://www.mancity.com/citytv/mens/city-players-call-kids-in-phone-box-surprise-63869371. We are very proud to have achieved the Sainsbury's Platinum Sports Award and in November 2022 we were awarded the winner of School of the Year category at the Manchester Sports Awards. We understand that good mental health contributes to a child's healthy lifestyle and we are also an accredited Nurture School.
