School Meals and Menus

School Meals and Menus

A hot school meal may be purchased from the school as and when required. These currently cost £2.20 per day (£11.00 for a full week) and it is extremely helpful if this money is sent into school in a named envelope.

Our school meals provision is managed  by  and cooked on site by Manchester Fayre caterers.

The menus have been devised to ensure that we meet the new Food Standards guidelines that were introduced in January 2015. In line with these guidelines, we are also able to provide details of any allergens that may be present in the foods that we serve. Please speak to a member of the Administration Team in the school office if you require further information.

INFANT FREE SCHOOL MEALS

From September 2014 all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be eligible to receive a free meal provided by school. However, parents are welcome to send their child with a packed lunch if this is their preferred option. Teachers will ask the children in their class whether they are having a school meal or have brought a packed lunch from home as part of the morning registration procedure. Please also see the section below about Free School Meals as it is extremely important that families who are eligible under the original scheme make an application as this has both financial and other implications for the school.

FREE SCHOOL MEALS

Some families may be eligible to receive Free School Meals for their children. The criteria is listed at the start of the application form, which can be found by clicking on the relevant link below.  We do ask and recommend that any family who believes that they may be eligible, should complete and submit an application form to the school office in order that this entitlement can be checked and applied. Please also supply evidence of your National Insurance number.

Further information and advice can be obtained, in confidence, from the school office or at the attached link.

School Milk and Fruit

Pupils from reception to year 6 can purchase daily milk at a cost of £6.97 per term and pupils in year 3 upwards can purchase fruit for 20p.

Year groups not mentioned receive free school milk and fruit.

Packed Lunches.

Pupils can bring packed lunches from home. We expect them to adhere to the same nutritional standards that we set when creating our cooked meals.  They should be low in sugar and fat content, ie, no sweets, chocolate biscuits etc. and include fruit or yoghurt for dessert rather than cakes and biscuits.

Pupils do NOT need to bring a drink. Water is provided.
