Extra curricular activities

Extra-Curricular Activities

We have lots of extra-curricular activities at Ashbury Meadow with a variety of sports and activities on offer. These activities run before or after school. We are constantly looking at ways in which we can extend our offer to meet the requests and needs of our pupils. We believe that these valuable opportunities should enrich the pupils' learning experiences - developing skills, providing a sense of belonging, and providing fun and enjoyment.

Clubs include:

Boys and Girls' Football Clubs

The football clubs are for KS2 pupils and focuses on skills, team work and good sportsmanship. The children in our football club have opportunities to compete in inter and intra school competitions.

Chess Club

Children learn the skills of chess playing in our Year 3 chess club. Some of our pupils go on to compete in local chess tournaments.

Multiskills Club

The KS1 multiskills club gives our pupils the opportunity to take part in a range of sports.

Choir Club

Our choir practises every week with our Halle trained choir teacher. The children have performed at The East Manchester Academy, Manchester Children's Hospital and as part of an 8,000 pupil choir at the Young Voices concert in January 2020 at Manchester Arena.

See also our Choir page on the website under 'School Info'.

Library Club

Our library club promotes children's love of reading and to enjoy a range of different texts with out school librarian Miss Butterworth.

Times Tables Club

Children have the opportunity to practise their timestables in a fun and motivating way using Times Table Rockstars app on the iPads.

Art and Craft Club

For KS1 children who love arts and crafts, they take part in this creative club in which they explore different media and produce fanastic pieces of artwork which they feel proud of.

Dance Club

Children enjoy learning new street dances and performing in our weekly dance club.

Commando Joe Club

The Commando Joe club aims to raise self esteem, and resilience of our pupils. The programme develops this resilience through many activities, being part of the team, performing challenges or having a leadership role. They develop their sense of adventure and increase their self-sufficiency by taking part in new and unfamiliar activities.

African Drumming Club

We have a specialist Djembe African drummer who runs an after school club every week. The children have enjoyed performing for the school where they have the opportunity to show off their amazing skills.

Sports

We also have a range of sporting events that run throughout the year where children represent the school in different sports. See our School Sports page on the website under 'School Info'.
