Forecast for the year 6 Summer half term.

English: We will be researching and writing detailed descriptions of Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution using examples of natural selection taken from his voyage aboard the HMS Beagle and visit to the Galapagos Islands!

Maths: The pupils will be working on a variety of written and mental arithmetic methods involving multiplication, addition, subtraction and division. We will be revising hard in the lead up to SATs and aiming to apply our written and mental arithmetic skills to a variety of mathematical reasoning problem.

Science: The pupils will be learning about Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution by Natural selection. This will involve studying, observing and researching a range of plants and animals and how they have adapted to their environments either by natural selection or artificial selection.

Using the internet at home or visiting the local library would allow your child to research and increase their learning of the curriculum in the Year 6 curriculum.

All of the children are given home reading books to read at home. I would appreciate it if you could continue to listen to your child reading at home for ten minutes per night and ask your child questions about the text your child has read. Having an adult or older sibling listen to them reading will benefit your child immensely and help them to make excellent progress in reading.

May we remind you that homework is given out on a Friday and should be handed in on a Monday or Tuesday by the latest. PE will be on Monday and pupils will need their kits and suitable footwear when taking part.
