Reception L 2018 - 2019

Miss Lyne

Reception

Welcome to the new term! Emma, Mandy, Martin, Rena and Harvinder hope

you all had a lovely half-term and are ready to support us to help your children

to work hard, have fun and achieve academically and socially during the next term.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

This 1/2 term our topic is called Our Changing Planet!

There are a lot of exciting festivals this term- Diwali 07/11/18, Halloween 31/10/18, Bonfire Night 5/11/18, Hanukkah 02/12/18 and Christmas 25/12/18. The children are going to be learning about different celebrations from around the world! There will also be our EYFS nativity and Christmas Jumper day- dates will be confirmed in due course.

This term we are also going to be focusing on OUR PLANET and RECYCLING. The children will be learning about keeping our planet clean and what they can do to keep waste at a minimum.

A few quick reminders

Reading books please make sure you listen to your child read each night. Talk about the pictures, practise any letters/words that are sent home and please make comments in the reading log and send their book back into school each day.

Outdoor play - please make sure your child has suitable clothing, waterproof coat, wellingtons, sunhat, gloves, etc.  We go outside every day rain or shine.

Please remember to put names in all clothes, shoes, bags, lunch boxes, etc.

After school club  Polkadots – We are lucky that we can provide an afterschool club for children in Reception.  Polkadots is a music based club which will run termly on a Wednesday after school. You will receive more information about  Polkadots in a separate letter at a later date.

Homework – children will have a daily homework sheet for the first few weeks of the term that supports the letter and sound they are learning in phonics each day. These do not take long to do and will reinforce their learning. It would be great to have your support in this as it is the foundation of starting to read and write. Towards the end of this half-term, we will change and adapt the homework depending on how the children are progressing and communicate this to you.

Children celebrating their 5th birthday this half term are:

Hallie-Jo, Vicky, Nicole, Jensen, Eshal and Imani.

A big happy birthday to you all.

Finally we all look forward to working closely with you all during the next term!

Emma, Mandy, Martin, Rena, and Harvinder.
