Reception Newsletter April 2019

This half term our topic is...

“Down on the Farm”

We hope that you have had a lovely Easter break and are refreshed for the short but busy term ahead! This half term we are going to be learning about farms and where our food comes from! We will particularly be focusing on-

Animals that live on a farm.

The different names for animals and their young.

Animals that lay eggs/produce live young.

Different machines/equipment used on a farm.

What is needed for crops to grow successfully e.g. sunlight, rain, soil, nutrients.

Where our food comes from.

Our Investigation Topic this term is going to be Healthy Eating. The children will be learning about healthy food choices and the importance of keeping our bodies healthy.

The stories we will be reading this term will be Farmer Duck and The Little Red Hen.

Dates for your diary: On the 17th May there will be sight and hearing checks. Each Wednesday there is a Polkadots club and on Thursday there will be a Games Club for those children taking part this term. Pick up is 3.45pm at the main entrance. Places are given on a first come, first served basis and we do our best to make sure all children will have a turn at some point during the year.

Every Friday- All parents who have a child receiving a certificate in the Celebration Assembly are to go through to the Children’s Centre and wait to be called to be taken over to the studio for the EYFS assembly.

Children celebrating their 5th birthday this half term are…

Olivia, Christelle, Atharv and Ziyad

Attendance and Punctuality – if your child is not in school on time or off school altogether they miss out on so much learningplease make sure your child is in school, on time, every day.

Tapestry online learning journey This term we are particularly interested in seeing what developments your children make at home. Please upload these to share with us as it is a great conversation prompt for your children to share their experiences with their friends and teachers.

Thanks for your continuing support and we all look forward to working with you for the rest of the year!
