Reception L 2019 - 2020

Miss Lyne

Reception Newsletter June 2019

This half term our topic is “Under, over and across the sea”

This half term, the focus of our learning will be connected to the sea. We will be learning all about pirates, reading ‘Pirates Love Underpants’ and about the creatures beneath the waves when we read ‘The Rainbow Fish’.

We will also be looking at different types of transport that we can use to get to the seaside or over the sea to another country.

Speaking of moving on, we can hardly believe the last half term of the year is here! We will be doing lots of work to support the transition into year one, including 3 transition mornings with their new teachers. We will also be looking at what the children have achieved this year and their hopes and aspirations for year one.

As usual, there are a few important notices:

  • Meet the year one teachers – on 11th July at 9:00am there will be a meeting with the year one teachers in the main hall. Just wait by the school office after you have dropped your child off.
  • It’s finally summer – in hot weather, please ensure that children are wearing appropriate clothing and that sun-cream is applied before the children come to school. If you send some in with your child, please ensure it has their name on as it will be kept in their tray.
  • The school phone number has changed. It is now 0161 989 2999.
  • The last day of the school year is Friday 19th July. School will close at 1:30pm that day.

Each Wednesday there is a Polkadots club and on Thursday there will be a Games Club for those children taking part this term.

Pick up from the clubs is at 3.45pm at the main entrance. We do our best to make sure all children will have a turn at some point during the year.

Every Friday- All parents who have a child receiving a certificate in the Celebration Assembly are to go through to the Children’s Centre and wait to be called to be taken over to the studio for the EYFS assembly.

Tapestry online learning journey This term we are particularly interested in seeing what developments your children make at home. Please upload these to share with us. It is a great conversation prompt for your children to share their experiences with their friends and teachers.

Children celebrating their 5th birthday this half term or over the summer holidays are…

Razan,  Inaya, Alia, Ayaan

Attendance and Punctuality – if your child is not in school on time or off school altogether they miss out on so much learning – please make sure your child is in school, on time, every day.

Thanks for your continuing support and letting us have your children from 8:45 to 3:15 for the last year!

Emma, Mandy, Harvinder, Rena, Martin, Sunny, Annette, Caomihe, Dawn & Loutmi
