Reception J 2017 - 2018

Mrs Jones

Reception, teacher, SENCO, assistant head Reception Newsletter April 2018

We hope you all had a good Easter break and

are ready for the last 2 terms in Reception.

Our theme this term is - ‘Yo!, Ho!, Ho!’ – Pirate and all that stuff.

During the term we are going to find out all about Pirates. The fun, fantasy

life of a pirate. The main text we will be using is Pirates Love Underpants by Claire Freedman. One of our role play area will become a pirate’s galleon. Here we will be encouraging the children develop pirate language:

“Shiver me timbers” – “Argh!” - “Land Ho” – “Pieces of Eight”, etc.

In Maths we will be making and following treasure maps, at every opportunity encouraging the children to develop their use of positional language.

During the last week we would like to hold a Pirate Party.

We will let you know more about this nearer the time.

On a Friday, linked to Pirates, we will be investigating the Ocean. Who lives in and around it.  Water safety - how to keep safe near water. Pollution – what we can do to keep our Oceans clear and free from rubbish.

Quick reminders:

Parents Evenings are on Monday 23 of April and Wednesday 25th of April.

Pirate Party – we will have a picnic lunch all together on this day. It would be good if the children could come dressed up as a pirate.  Children celebrating their 5th birthday this half term are…

Jayden, Isabel, Daniel, Mason, Zahra,

Eugenie, Sandy, Abu Baker and Treasure

A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you all.

Once again thanks for all your support Suzanne, Mandy, Martin, Rena, Emma and Harvinder.
